Position Overview: We are seeking a diligent and reliable individual to join our team as a Dismantler worker, specializing in industrial building decommissioning of Nuclear Power Plants. As a Dismantler worker, you will play a vital role in the efficient recycling and disposal of materials generated during the deconstruction and demolition of installed equipment and building-structures. Your responsibilities will include the sorting and processing of materials, operating equipment for treatment of components, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Material Sorting and Processing:
    • Sorting and separation of different types of materials, such as concrete, metal, wood, glass, plastics, and hazardous substances, according to established guidelines.
    • Operate manual or automated equipment, such as conveyors, sorting machines, and compactors, to process and prepare recyclable materials for further recycling or disposal.
    • Cleaning components by the use of blasting equipment, high-pressure cleaners and chemical treatment.
    • Disassembling of electrical motors and gear boxes
    • Follow proper handling procedures for hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  2. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
    • Operate recycling equipment, including crushers, grinders, shredders, and compactors, to process and prepare materials for recycling or disposal.
    • Operate jigsaws for milling/ chopping of metal structures.
    • Monitor equipment performance, report malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisors, and assist in routine inspections and cleaning as required.
    • Ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment, following all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures.
  3. Facility Maintenance and Organization:
    • Maintain a clean and organized recycling centre by properly storing materials, tools, and equipment.
    • Assist in maintaining inventory records of incoming and outgoing materials, including types, quantities, and recycling rates.
    • Support the maintenance of a safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols, identifying potential hazards, and reporting safety concerns to supervisors.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with team members, project staff, and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of recycling tasks.
    • Communicate effectively to provide updates, share information, and address any issues or concerns related to recycling operations.
    • Follow instructions and guidelines provided by supervisors to ensure compliance with recycling protocols and standards.
    • Participate in training sessions or workshops to develop skills and improve job performance.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience as a craftsman, technician or construction worker
  • Previous experience in recycling operations, waste management, or a similar field is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of different types of construction materials and their recycling or disposal requirements.
  • Ability to operate recycling equipment, machinery, or tools with training and supervision.
  • Ability to operate pallet-jacks and forklifts
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and guidelines accurately.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and operating machinery.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and the ability to identify and report potential hazards.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing recycling processes and technologies.
  • Willingness to work in the environment of a nuclear power plant, which is under decommissioning
